As we begin the process of making over our two winners of the “Give a Deserving Mom and a Deserving Dad a Drop-Dead Gorgeous Smile”, we want to take the time to introduce you to them.
I remember reading the two entries and being struck by the sincere love and gratitude Terryl’s kids had for her.
Neil: “She has done so much to make me smile in my life, I simply want her to have the chance to smile without feeling ashamed or not beautiful.”
Margaret: “My mother is the most compassionate person I know and that is why she deserves a smile. I would give anything for my mother to have this amazing gift and I can promise, with the utmost certainty, that no one would be more grateful than her.”
Terryl’s life hasn’t been an easy one. She has sacrificed for her family, so that they can have food and shelter, and a gift that would accompany a holiday, like Christmas or birthdays. She’s recently been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, which has required her to use supplemental oxygen.
30 years ago, she had surgery to fix a deformity in her palate. To correct that issue, her jaw was broken in several places, her upper teeth spread apart, and her mouth wired shut for 6 months to allow for healing. Since then, her teeth have deteriorated severely. She has had multiple root canals, teeth pulled, and crowns that have been put on and then failed. Long story short: Terryl’s health and quality of life have suffered because of the issues she’s faced.
Dr. Barotz and the rest of our team have had the pleasure of meeting Terryl and getting a Comprehensive Exam done, so that we can provide the very best treatment plan for her. In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more of her story, and how we’re changing her life with her smile!
